The Oberoi Group, which pioneered luxury hotel chain business over 90 years ago, has recently introduced the employment and skill development program, RISE, which stands for Refine and Invest in Skill Enhancement Programme.
This effort aims to educate, train and place young people in entry-level or junior positions in the hospitality industry and set the company on a path of continuing that great tradition that it has upheld as a champion of the disadvantaged youths and society.
The RISE Program intends to accommodate 1800 to 2,000 trainees per year by the end of 2025. The initiative focuses on equipping participants with critical skills in key areas of hospitality, including:
- Food and Beverage Service
- Kitchen Operations
- Front Office
- Housekeeping
- Laundry
The initiative reflects the Oberoi Group’s long-standing corporate policy to provide premium service and products in hotel accommodations as well as the quest to meet the ever-challenging needs in the hospitality industry.
Strategic Partnerships and Holistic Training
To ensure the program’s success, the selection process will be conducted through top-skilling organisations such as:
- Job Plus
- The Hospitality Skill council
- The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)
Partnering is also crucial in the process of sourcing talent and providing a great training environment. The candidates will learn technical and soft skills at the universities and get practical experience in selected hotels within The Oberoi Group under the supervision of a tutor both while on internship and the first years of working with the company.
A Legacy of Empowerment
The RISE Programme is named with reference to the visionary values of the founder of The Oberoi Group, Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi, who started his journey with the group as a front office clerk.
Vikram Oberoi, CEO of The Oberoi Group, highlighted this legacy, stating:
Taking the core values of our founder, RISE reflects our vision that investing in people is crucial for building the future of hospitality. On 90 years of the existence of The Oberoi Group, this social cause is an affirmation of the group’s goal of being socially responsible and meaningful to society, as it has been catering for 90 years.
Beyond Technical Skills
The RISE Program is remarkable because, in addition to developing technical skills for jobs in the hospitality industry, the participants learn personal and social competencies necessary for success at work.
Trainees will receive:
Compensation during training
This research will particularly focus on the interaction of the users in real life and especially in environments that have niche luxury hotels.
Promotion avenues within or outside the hospitality industry
The help is now a call to the ESP aspirants target to the aspiring hospitality professionals
Shailja Singh, Chief Human Resources Officer of The Oberoi Group, underscored the program’s inclusivity and growth-driven vision:
Not only are we providing specific job opportunities but also giving hope and voice to people of color. This will attest to our call for inclusiveness; capacity as well as development in pursuit of professionalism that will culminate in success.
