The Ministry of Tourism has launched a major campaign to promote Maha Kumbh 2025 as a global tourism event, focusing on its spiritual and religious significance. Scheduled to be held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the Maha Kumbh Mela will begin on 13th January, 2025 and end on 26th February, 2025. It will have millions of pilgrims, tourists and devotees attending.
The largest mass religious gathering in the world is the Maha Kumbh Mela—a Hindu pilgrimage happening once every 12 years with people of different ethnicities and/or races. The event coming up offers a perfect chance not only to promote the spiritual side of India but also its culture. The Indian government looks at Maha Kumbh as the global tourist destination that will enable the nation to position itself well for cultural tourism so that individuals of all ages and sexes can get the actual feel of the nation.
Incredible India Pavilion: A spur to India’s Culture And traditions
Another flagship program launched by the Ministry is the Incredible India Pavilion, which is a 5,000 sq. m. area developed to add value to the visitor experience at the Maha Kumbh. This will be an essential facility for foreign tourists to visit, for researchers and journalists to spend their time, as well as for people from the Indian diaspora.
This will include an interesting presentation of the Kumbh Mela as exhibited from the cultural perspective and the Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice Poll, where visitors will be able to cast their vote in the preferred tourism sites in India. This move is hoped to enhance the travellers’ experience on the India tour, hence enhancing their interest in the diverse products offered in the country.
Seamless Assistance with the Dedicated Tourist Infoline
The Ministry has also launched a tourist infoline (1800111363 or 1363) to ensure smooth and hassle-free assistance for the international visitors flocking to the event. Available in English, Hindi, and ten international languages, along with various Indian vernacular languages such as In Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Marathi, this toll-free service will provide essential information and guidance to attendees, making their experience more enjoyable and stress-free.
Collaborations to Enhance Accommodation and Connectivity
To meet the accommodation demands of the thousands of visitors, the Ministry has partnered with organizations like the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC), IRCTC, and ITDC. Special efforts have been made to offer luxurious accommodations, including the ITDC Tent City in Prayagraj and premium tents from IRCTC. Additionally, curated tour packages have been designed to offer a comprehensive experience for tourists.
Connectivity to Prayagraj is also a priority, and the Ministry’s collaboration with Alliance Air aims to improve air travel options from major cities in India, ensuring ease of access for domestic and international visitors alike.

Digital Campaigns and Media Engagement to Boost Global Awareness
To amplify the event’s reach, the Ministry has launched an extensive social media campaign featuring hashtags like #Mahakumbh2025 and #SpiritualPrayagraj. Collaborative posts with organizations like ITDC and UP Tourism will boost engagement through interactive content, contests, and global outreach. A high-profile photoshoot and videography project will also capture the grandeur of the Maha Kumbh, with visuals being shared across national and international media platforms. This will help establish Prayagraj as a global spiritual and cultural hotspot.
Through these strategic initiatives, the Ministry of Tourism is set to position Maha Kumbh 2025 not just as a religious gathering but as a global cultural and tourism event, enriching the experiences of millions around the world.
