The Russian capital Moscow works actively to establish better ties with India to boost its tourism business and its Meetings Incentives Conferences Exhibitions events sector. The Moscow City Tourism Committee plans to display the city’s tourism features at the OTM International Tourism Exhibition during January 30 through February 1, 2025, in Mumbai.
India: A Strategic Tourism Partner
Moscow’s tourism strategy now includes India as its essential strategic tourism industry partner. Since 2020, Indian visitors have consistently maintained their position as one of the major tourist groups heading to Moscow that originate outside the Commonwealth of Independent States. Tourism data shows that Indian arrivals during the first half of 2024 exceeded the 2023 numbers by 150 percent, totaling 28,500 guests. The implementation of the e-visa system in August 2023 made traveling easier for Indian passport holders while driving the popularity of visiting Moscow.
Recent advancements in access have fueled the MICE sector’s growth because more Indian businesses now organize their conferences and corporate events in Moscow. The fusion of contemporary development and cultural diversity alongside premium hospitality services in this destination offers exceptional value for travel experiences in vacation or professional meetings.
Moscow’s Vision for Tourism Growth
Evgeny Kozlov from Moscow’s Office of the Mayor stressed that tourism primarily aims to attract both business travelers and leisure visitors. According to Kozlov, the city directs more attention toward business tourism since it serves as a key economic driver while still receiving the typical leisure and cultural visitors.
The city administration in Moscow has established objectives to receive 6 million foreign visitors every year through 2030. Research indicates that the city’s tourism sector will expand because of increasing numbers of visitors from India along with enlarging traveler bases in Asia-Pacific regions, Middle Eastern nations and Commonwealth of Independent States states.
